I heard the Throat Chanters at a circumpolar conference attended by Eskimos from Greenland, the USSR, Canada, and Alaska. The women, froma remote village in Canada, stood with their mouths only inches apart, chanting. The sounds reverberated off each other's vocal chords, creating a strange echo or hollow sound, not unlike chanting through a long metal pipe. I represented their extraordinary music here with shapes and colors.
